Get started with Profields 5.0 administration
This article will guide you through the Profields Administration screen. On it, you will be able to set permissions to use and manage project fields, their values, and layouts.
Step 1: Go to the Administration screen
- Click on the Profields button on the JIRA navigation bar.
- Select Administration .
Step 2: The Administration screen
Profields 5.0 has a single administration screen. There's no need to be a JIRA administrator to configure and manage Profields but you will need to be a Profields administrator to make change.
What is a Profields Administrator?
Profields administrators can create fields and layouts, and associate projects with layouts. After installing Profields anyone that is a JIRA Project administrator automatically becomes a Profields administrator. This role permission can be changed on the Administration screen.
If you update from Profields 4.x, only JIRA administrators are Profields administrators unless the role permission is changed.
To configure who has Profields administrator privileges:
- Disable the All project administrators are also Profields Administrator option. This option allows every JIRA project administrators to be a Profields administrators.
- In the Profields Administrator section that will now be enabled, you can select the users and groups that will have Profields administrator privileges. You can search for and filter users and groups.
- You can enable the All project administrators are also Profields Administrator option at any time. If you do, any JIRA Project administrator will also be a Profields administrator but the permissions of the users and groups that were selected before will be retained.
